VMOU Admission 2026

Admission is open for UG, PG, diploma and certificate courses in the July 2026 session. The whole process runs online. You register on the portal, fill the form, upload your papers, Students can apply for the VMOU Admission by paying the INR 100, and submit. Most courses give direct admission on merit. There is no test for BA, BSc, MA, MCom or MSc Mathematics — your marks in the last exam decide it.

B.Ed is the clear exception and goes through PTET. For MBA, check the prospectus, because entrance score rules for that course have changed between sessions. An ABC ID and a DEB ID are needed before you start. The university also tells students not to leave the form for the last day, since any technical problem on that day is the student’s own risk.

VMOU Admission 2026 Last Date

The July 2026 session opened on 1 July. Reports say the last date to apply is 30 September 2026VMOU works on a two-session year, and this is helpful if you do miss out. One round runs in July and the other in January. In the last January session, the form closed on 31 January and PhD stayed open till 10 February. So a missed July date costs you about five months, not a full year. Second and third year students moving up, and students joining online programmes like DLISOL and DCAOL, are handled in the same window as fresh admission.

VMOU Admission Courses List 2026

The university offers around 48 programmes across seven schools of study. Here is the main list:

Level Courses
UG B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.C.A., B.J. (Journalism), B.Lib.I.Sc., B.Ed.
PG Arts M.A. in several subjects, including Sanskrit and Kannada
PG Commerce M.Com.
PG Science M.Sc. Computer Science, Biotechnology, Earth Science, Mathematics
PG Others M.B.A., M.S.W., M.Lib.I.Sc., M.C.A.
Diploma Yoga Studies, Computer Application, Library Science, Nutrition and Health Education, Early Childhood Care
Certificate Food and Nutrition, Computing, Tourism Studies, Functional English
Research Ph.D. in several subjects

B.A. alone is offered in about 18 subject options, which is why it draws the biggest group of students every session.

VMOU UG Admission 2026

Degree level admission here is direct. You need a 10+2 pass, usually with 45% to 50% marks, and SC, ST and OBC students get a 5% relaxation on that.

There is one rule here that many students do not know about. For some courses, VMOU accepts Class 10 along with a government diploma or certificate in place of 10+2. This opens the door for people who left school early and later did a trade course. Under NEP, the B.A. now runs for three or four years, depending on the path you pick. Study material comes to you, and you take your exams at a centre in Rajasthan.

VMOU BA Admission 2026

B.A. is the biggest course here and comes with about 18 subject choices. Economics, English, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology and Hindi are among the main ones.

You need a 10+2 pass from any stream, and admission is direct with no test. Fees vary a lot by the subject group you pick, running from around INR 5,800 to INR 23,700 for the full course. Check the fee for your own subject before you decide, as the gap between the cheapest and costliest option is wide. Girl students from Rajasthan should read the fee section below before paying, because the state scheme may cover the whole amount.

VMOU BSc Admission 2026

B.Sc. is offered with subject groups such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It is a three-year course, and entry is based on your 10+2 science marks.

No entrance test is held. If you passed 12th with science and meet the marks bar, you get in. What students should plan for is the practical side. Science courses at an open university still need lab sessions, and these are held at set centres on fixed dates. Before you apply, find out which study centre near you runs the practical work for your subject group, because not every centre handles every science subject.

VMOU PG Admission 2026

The master’s list is wide and covers arts, commerce, science, management, social work and library science. Most courses run for two years across four semesters. A bachelor’s degree with 50% marks is the usual bar, and reserved category students may be allowed at 45%. M.Sc. courses ask for a degree in the same field, so M.Sc. Biotechnology expects a background in biological sciences. MA Kannada and MA Sanskrit are two options here that are hard to find in distance mode elsewhere. Yearly PG fees fall in a wide band, so pull up the figure for your own course from the prospectus rather than going by an average.

VMOU MBA Admission 2026

The M.B.A. runs for two years and offers the usual specialisations such as Marketing, Human Resource and Finance. A bachelor’s degree with 50% marks is the base requirement. Entry rules for the MBA need care. Some sessions have taken students on merit alone, while other notices mention entrance scores such as CAT, MAT or CMAT. Because the rule has not stayed the same, read the current MBA notice on the portal instead of trusting an older page. One more point for MBA students: internal assignments are held at set centres, including Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur and Bharatpur, so pick a centre you can actually travel to.

VMOU BEd Admission 2026

B.Ed does not follow the merit route used by the rest of the courses. Seats are filled through PTET, the Pre-Teacher Education Test held in Rajasthan. This means you must sit PTET 2026 and get a rank before VMOU can consider you. A bachelor’s degree with 50% marks is needed for the general category. Because PTET has its own form, its own fee and its own date, none of which match the VMOU admission window, students planning B.Ed should track that exam separately. The university also holds NCTE recognition, which is what makes its B.Ed valid for teaching jobs.

VMOU Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026

  • UG courses: 10+2 pass with 45% to 50% marks, with 5% relaxation for SC, ST and OBC students.
  • Special route: Some courses accept Class 10 plus a government diploma or certificate in place of 10+2.
  • PG courses: A bachelor’s degree with 50% marks, and 45% for reserved categories.

VMOU Admission Fee Structure 2026

Level Approximate Fee

B.Sc. and B.Com. INR 5,000/- to INR 15,000/-

M.A. and M.Com. INR 6,400/- to INR 17,900/-
M.Sc. courses Higher band

Payment is taken online by net banking, debit card, credit card or challan. Before you pay, two checks are worth a minute of your time. Girl students from Rajasthan should ask about the state fee scheme. Is the VMOU Degree Valid?

Yes. The university was set up in 1987 by an Act of the Rajasthan legislature and is the state open university of Rajasthan. It carries UGC-DEB recognition, holds an ‘A’ grade from NAAC, and has NCTE recognition for its teacher training course.

The degree is accepted for government jobs, private jobs and higher study. It is also one of the older and larger open universities in the country, with a student base spread across Rajasthan. One warning is worth repeating here. The state government issued a public notice in May 2026 about misleading admission advertising, and VMOU has linked it on its own site. Apply only on the official website, and do not pay any agent who promises a seat.
