TNOU Admission 2026

TNOU Admission is open for the July 2026 session. Forms are being taken for every level, from short courses to master’s degrees. Seats are given on the marks of your last exam. There is no written test for most courses. Four courses work in a different way. B.Ed General, B.Ed Special Education, M.Phil and PhD all need an entrance test. Every other course gives direct entry. This covers BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc, MA, MCom, MBA, MSc and MCA. Before you start, make your ABC or APAAR ID and then your DEB ID. The form will not go through without both.

TNOU Admission 2026 Last Date

15 September 2026 is the last date for the July session. This date is safer than most. Many sites have given the same date since June. It also matches the date UGC-DEB has set for the July round across India. TNOU takes students twice a year. One round opens in January and the other in July. So if you miss September, you wait about four months, not a full year. Keep one point in mind. B.Ed, M.Phil and PhD have their own dates, tied to their tests. Track those notices on their own.

TNOU UG Admission 2026

TNOU Admission at the degree level is simple. You need a 10+2 pass from any board. The marks needed run from 33% to 50%, based on the course. There is no test and no interview. Courses run for three years. You get printed books and attend classes at a support centre near you. The language choice helps many students. If you studied in Tamil at school, you can do the whole degree in Tamil. You can also write the exam in Tamil. UG fees stay near INR 4,000 to INR 10,000 a year, which is low.

TNOU BA Admission 2026

B.A. is the biggest course at TNOU. It comes in six subjects: Tamil, English, Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology. Any 10+2 pass can apply, from any stream. History and Political Science pull in a lot of TNPSC students. The books work as exam study at the same time. Tamil and English suit school teachers and people in writing work. Seats fill fast because entry is open to all. So apply in August, not in the last week.

TNOU BCA Admission 2026

B.C.A. runs for three years. It covers coding, databases and basic computer work. It is one of the more useful courses on the list. One point makes it special. Lateral entry is allowed. If you hold a diploma in a related field, you can join straight in the second year. You save one full year. Many students miss this and start from year one for no reason. If you finished a polytechnic diploma, read the lateral entry rule first.

TNOU PG Admission 2026

TNOU Admission at master’s level covers arts, commerce, science, management and social work. Each course runs for two years. Entry is direct, on your degree marks. You need a degree in a related subject. The marks bar runs from about 45% to 55%. Some subjects here are rare in distance mode, such as M.A. Linguistics. Science courses like M.Sc. Chemistry and Zoology have lab work at set centres. PG fees run near INR 5,000 to INR 13,000 a year.

TNOU MBA Admission 2026

The M.B.A. is a two-year course and one of the most popular at TNOU. The main reason is cost. It is far cheaper than a private business school. You need a degree in any stream to apply. TNOU also holds AICTE approval, which is what employers look for in a management course. Reports differ on whether the seat is given on merit alone, so read the current notice first. You study from books and join class sessions. Marks come from your class work and the term end exam.

TNOU BEd Admission 2026

B.Ed does not work like the rest of TNOU Admission, and many students get this wrong. Both General and Special Education need an entrance test. Merit alone is not enough. Special Education holds RCI approval from the Rehabilitation Council of India. You need this to work as a special educator. The General B.Ed holds NCTE approval. These two courses run on their own dates, so 15 September may not apply to them. If you plan to teach, watch the B.Ed notice on its own and get ready for the test.

TNOU Admission 2026 Eligibility

  • PG courses: A degree in a related subject, with about 45% to 55% marks.
  • M.B.A.: A degree in any stream.
  • B.Ed General and Special Education: A degree, plus a pass in the entrance test.

TNOU Fee Structure 2026

Level Fee
UG courses INR 4,000/- to INR 10,000/- a year
B.B.A. About INR 13,200/- for three years
PG courses INR 5,000/- to INR 13,000/- a year
Certificate courses INR 1,000/- to INR 2,500/- each
Diploma and Vocational Lower band

TNOU Admission fees are among the lowest in Tamil Nadu. That is the main draw for most students here. The form fee is not returned, so check your eligibility first. Some sites give the form fee as INR 500 or INR 1,000, so take the figure from the notice for your own course. You can also get a form by post from the Deputy Registrar, MPDD, by demand draft.

Is the TNOU Degree Valid?

Yes. The approvals behind TNOU Admission are wider than at most open universities. It holds UGC-DEB approval for distance courses, AICTE for management, NCTE for teaching courses and RCI for special education.

It also has UGC 12B status, which not every state open university gets. NAAC has given it an A+ grade. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It has taught more than ten lakh students since 2002. The degree works for government jobs, private jobs and higher study. Still, do one check: make sure your own course is on the DEB list for the year you join.

TNOU Study Material and Regional Centres

The university makes its own books at its Chennai office. They are printed in English and Tamil, so you get material in the language you chose.

Regional centres across Tamil Nadu handle admission, class sessions and student help. Support centres work under them at district level. Class sessions and lab work happen there. So pick a centre close to your home or job. Exams are called the Term End Exam. Hall tickets, time tables and project dates go up on the portal each cycle.
