NSOU Admission 2026

NSOU Admission 2026 is taking applications for undergraduate, postgraduate, BLIS, diploma, and certificate programmes in the July 2026 session. The admission process is completely online, and seats are given based on the marks scored in your last qualifying examination. UG and PG use different portals, so check that you are on the right one before registering. B.Ed and M.Ed Special Education open once a year and have their own portal dates, and PhD runs through an entrance test. Making an ABC ID and a DEB ID first saves a wasted attempt, since both are needed to complete the form.

The application fee varies from INR 275 up to INR 750 depending on the programme and level. Interested students can complete the admission process through the official website.

NSOU UG Admission 2026

The NSOU Admission structure for undergraduates changed this session. NSOU now runs four-year UG programmes under NEP 2020, replacing the older three-year pattern. A learner who finishes the first year with 48 credits can leave with a certificate. Finishing the second year with 92 credits earns a diploma. Complete the third year, and you have a degree, while the fourth year gives an honours degree. For someone unsure whether they can commit four years alongside a job, Entry requires a 10+2 pass, and candidates who passed 10+2 in a vocational course are also accepted.

NSOU BA Admission 2026

The Bachelor of Arts is the largest programme here and comes with honours options in Economics, English, History, Political Science and Public Administration, among others. A 10+2 pass with around 45% marks is the usual bar, and students from any stream may apply, though those who studied the subject at school get preference in some cases. Study material arrives in English or Bengali, whichever you choose at admission, and this language option is a real advantage for learners across rural West Bengal. Annual fees for UG sit roughly between INR 3,300 and INR 20,000 depending on the Specialization.

NSOU BCom Admission 2026

NSOU Admission in Commerce also follows the four-year NEP structure, with an honours degree available to those who complete the final year. The syllabus moves through accounting, finance, human resources, and business studies. Applicants are normally expected to have passed 10+2 in Commerce with about 45% marks, with Accountancy studied as a core subject. Students from other streams should check the notification carefully, as the subject condition is stricter here than for B.A. Since the exit options apply to this programme too, a learner can step away after year one or two with a certificate or diploma rather than losing the credits earned.

NSOU BLIS Admission 2026

B.L.I.Sc. is among the most popular single courses in NSOU Admission, and it closes on the same date as PG programmes rather than with UG. It runs for one year and covers library organisation, information management and the use of ICT in libraries. Entry needs a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with about 45% marks. The course suits people already working in school, college or public libraries who need a formal qualification for a permanent post or a promotion. M.L.I.Sc. is available as the next step for those who go on to want a master’s in the field.

NSOU PG Admission 2026

NSOU Admission at the master’s level covers arts, commerce, science, management, social work, and library science. Each runs for a minimum of two years across four semesters.  bachelor’s degree with around 50% marks is the general requirement, and admission is direct based on graduation merit. PG applications go through a separate portal, so use the postgraduate link. The NSOU PG Admission 2026 last date is 15 September 2026.

Is the NSOU Degree Valid?

Yes, and the proof behind NSOU Admission is stronger than at most open universities. NSOU is a state open university set up by the West Bengal government in 1997, recognised by UGC-DEB, accredited by NAAC with an A grade, and a member of the Association of Indian Universities. Its four-year UG programmes carry a specific DEB approval reference, File No. 8-4/2025 (DEB-NR) dated 09.09.2025, which you can quote if anyone questions the degree.

Ranking adds weight to that. NSOU placed second among open universities in India in NIRF, with only IGNOU above it. The Commonwealth of Learning also gave the university its Excellence in Distance Education Award. Its special education programmes hold RCI recognition separately. As with any ODL course, confirm that yours appears on the DEB list for your joining session.

Self-instructional printed material is distributed through these centres in English or Bengali. NSOU also runs a Gyan Vani FM transmission centre in Kolkata, broadcasting educational content to learners, and offers online courses through the SWAYAM platform alongside its regular programmes.
